The County of Roanoke borrowed $19.1 million through two issuances in the Virginia Pooled Financing Program in 2017 and 2019. The funds financed a variety of projects for the County including a new fire station, completion of a public service center facility, improvements at Explore Park, as well as land acquisition for future construction of an administrative building. Capital projects at Explore Park made possible through this issuance including opening up more area to camping and enhancing access to the Roanoke River and Roanoke River Greenway.
